ClosedReopening 30 May 2025

The Potter Museum of Art is set to reopen in May 2025 following a stunning architectural transformation by the internationally acclaimed Wood Marsh Architecture. Known for their visionary design, Wood Marsh has received over 70 prestigious awards, both nationally and globally, making them the perfect partner for this ambitious redevelopment project.

The revitalised Potter will feature a striking entrance on the University of Melbourne’s campus, creating a bold architectural statement and welcoming visitors into an inspiring, modern space. This redevelopment has been made possible by the generous support of The Ian Potter Foundation and Lady Primrose Potter AC, whose contributions have enabled the creation of new and improved learning spaces that will continue to position the Museum as a leader in collection-based education.

Visitors can look forward to enhanced amenities, including a stylish eatery and outdoor area in the Museum’s forecourt, offering a relaxing spot for both casual visitors and academic communities. The elegant new foyer has been thoughtfully designed to host opening events and receptions, ensuring that The Potter will not only be a hub for art and education but also a vibrant social and cultural space.

As we anticipate our reopening, the Potter Museum of Art is poised to become an even more integral part of the University and the broader Melbourne community, offering dynamic spaces that encourage deep listening, learning, and creative engagement.

Join us in 2025 to experience the Potter Museum of Art, where art, architecture, ideas and education unite.
