The University of Melbourne’s signature Ngarrngga Project is an exciting, nation-building program of works led by Indigenous educators. Ngarrngga is a Taungurung word meaning to know, to hear, to understand. The Ngarrngga vision is for all Australian students to have the opportunity to deeply connect with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge systems, histories and cultures.

To achieve that, Ngarrngga is creating high-quality, innovative curriculum resources for educators to support teaching and learning around the 65,000 Years: A Short History of Australian Art exhibition.

This project targets teachers, principals and pre-service teachers, spanning all subjects from early childhood to Year 12. For 65,000 Years, Ngarrngga will develop tours and resources for Levels 3–10, VCE 11–12 and tertiary-level education.

These resources will be complemented by the delivery of masterclass-style professional development.
